Back to scrapping

I was working on some projects with my November kit and though some are still in the works.  (Hence the name Work in Progress... ) I finished up a few for this months gallery.

It all started a couple weeks ago when driving with Zach this song came on the radio that I had heard and even purchased on itunes.  Actually the first time I heard it I believe was a GM commercial and then I searched for the song online until I found it.  The lyrics made me think of life... my life and it was then I decided to do a mini book using those lyrics. Of course not every word rings true, but the base of the song is about The Story of our lives and I love it.  So many times we scrapbook about everyone else and not ourselves.

The story

And here's a couple of my pages from my mini.  On one side I put the lyrics, and on the other side I would describe the pictures used.

Chicago

was amazing!  Although our first night there when we were out checking out the town we got caught in a heavy downpour and there was no way back to our hotel without getting soaked.  We cracked up!

Before the rain got heavy we had gone to Millennium Park and found the theater where we would be heading the next day to see the Jersey Boys.

The park was so beautiful we knew we had to go back again the next day and get some pictures.

On Saturday we went to Navy Pier, The Jersey Boys, ESPN zone and many other stores throughout Chicago.  We also got back to Millennium Park where we found the giant BEAN

 

Everyone loved the play and I was so glad that I got to see it a 2nd time!  I would probably still see it 10 more times if given the opportunity...

Chelsea was good at getting a lot of family shots throughout our trip by setting the timer or asking someone to take it.

 

 

and the city itself was just beautiful.  What a great family get away it was!

One more day

until we leave for Chicago!  I can't believe it is almost here!  We talked about it for what seemed like forever and then when I ordered the tickets for The Jersey Boys it made it official and now tomorrow we leave!  Everyone I talk to LOVES Chicago, so I can't wait to be joining that group!  Plus the weekend away with family is perfect!

Tonight is also exciting since Trish is coming to teach a class with my friends and then Chelsea will be home later in the evening.

I'm supposed to go look at cars today also.  We'll probably be getting it sometime next week when we get back, but I told our salesman I would narrow down the one I like.  We are still getting the Trailblazer since I still love it and it fits within our price range.  Now its just a matter of color and features.

 

Since Chelsea didn't come home all last weekend I went out to Kent for lunch on Tuesday.  We went to Rockne's and then we had to make our usual visit to Pulp, the place Chelsea loves that makes fruit smoothies.  We had an awesome berry mix...

 

Still reading New Moon - second in series of the Twilight series, so far this one hasn't grabbed me as much as the first, but I probably need to keep reading...

Getting ready

We had a beautiful weekend here and I thought I would get out to the park for some fall pictures.  However, the park I went to seemed to have already lost a lot of the fall color I was looking for?  I'd like to check out some other parks in the area and I'm hoping they will wait until I have a chance to get out again.

I started getting ready for our trip to Chicago this weekend and to say I'm excited is an understatement!  Today I have to take the car in for an oil change and other service.  Our plan is to trade the car in when we get back from Chicago, so we'll see how that goes.

This past weekend I spent getting projects together for this months Work in Progress gallery.  The other day while driving with Zach the song "The Story" by Brandy Carslile came on the radio.  I love the lyrics of this song and decided right then that I was going to make a mini book about it.  Sometimes when you have an idea like that the project goes together quickly, as did mine.

I'm also getting ready to mail out wedding favors I made for my girlfriend Barbara in Florida.  Barbara and I met when her daughter Lindsay and Chelsea took dance lessons together when they were about 6 or 7 years old.  We both had the love of crafts and used to get together at her house and make projects for the kids.  She made the ghost and Frankenstein that are out in my yard every Halloween and some of my Christmas decorations too!   Then she went and moved to Florida...

She sent me a family picture and I made the sour cream packs and filled them with kisses, 5 to represent each of the family members.  So there's one more thing off my list!

Going to meet Chelsea for lunch today and then head back to work to finish up my invoicing.

Secrets Revealed

Always so much to do, even on those quiet weeks when there is nothing marked on the calendar!  Finally got my computer back so I'm hoping to finish a couple printing projects and of course get caught up with my online classes!

Then I got my hands on the upcoming November kit from Work in Progress, my plan is to play this weekend with some ideas I have with this kit.

Looking forward to the upcoming Chicago trip and then our Bertram Inn crop!  It will be a nice get away with the girls!

My minds eye...

While in Michigan last Tuesday and Wednesday we stopped in a scrapbooking store in Brighton that reopened called Scraptales.  While looking around I spotted this Christmas paper from My minds eye that I just fell in love with.  So I picked up a couple of every sheet.

After attending yesterday's crop I got myself some what back into a scrapping mood and put together this acrylic mini this afternoon.  I'm still not finished as I want to embellish more, but I just love how it came together with all these papers.  I think I see some Christmas gifts here!

I got a tag from Jill I need to work on and some other projects, but I'm also going to be losing my computer again... hopefully just for a day or so?

Finally I uploaded the pictures from our dinner in Michigan.  Brenda always makes our time there special and this time was no different.  While I only got a few pictures during our busy two days, the table setting was just adorable.

Today we are heading out to the Kent State Homecoming game and then I will be going to a crop for the evening. 

So much sadness in my life right now...

Where has the week gone

I cannot believe a week has gone by since my last post!  It's been a crazy but fun week, that's for sure!

On Monday Chelsea came home after practice and we watched the movie "What happens in Vegas", which I didn't expect to like, but actually loved!  We all agreed that it was quite funny!

Then Tuesday morning we met up with the girls from Treasured Friends for breakfast.  After breakfast, Chelsea headed back to Kent and we headed to Michigan for two days of fun with friends.  On our way in we met up with Brenda and Debbie in Dixboro and then found a spot for lunch in Ann Arbor.  Once we finished there we did our usual stops in Brighton including Debbie's store; Homespun and Scraptales.

For dinner we headed back to Brenda's house where she had the house all decorated for fall and the table set up for our dinner which included these adorable pumpkins already cleaned out for our squash soup to go in (I'll be sure to post pictures later...just tooo cute!)

Wednesday morning we got up early, had breakfast and then headed into Saginaw and Frankenmuth where we had lunch at Zehnders and did some shopping and Bronners and once we finished up there we had the 4 hour drive home.  Which being with girlfriends seems to just fly by!

Coming home I was surprised just how messed up the house could get with just Joel and Zach and the dog at home... so needless to say, besides working on Thursday I spent the day cleaning house!

Which brings me to today where I began the day at the dentist office for a broken crown (which broke while in Michigan). Thankfully the crown was still under warranty (although I didn't even know it had a warranty?)

Tonight I need to plan for Saturday's crop with Trish and go to the Kent State football game on Saturday... looks like another busy weekend!

it went by in a flash

Wow, what a fun and busy weekend we had, and looks like this week isn't going to slow down any either!

Friday night we began the evening by attending the Buckeye Football game and what a good game it was.  Zach hung out with his friends while I sat with family in the bleachers.  Just before the game ended I headed home and Zach went to spend the night at a friends.

By Saturday we were getting ready early since we had to leave for the game by 10:30.  The stadium was pretty packed since Kent and Akron are huge rivals.  In between the game starting I got a chance to meet up with Chelsea's coach and captain of her team, along with her good friend Allie.

 

 

Once we arrived home from the game... (which Kent ended up losing in double overtime) - it was time for Zach to get ready for Homecoming.  We tried so hard to coordinate all of the cousins getting together before the dance, but with all their different dinner plans it just wasn't going to work!  So needless to say I was disappointed with he lack of pictures with Zach

After Zach went to the dance and Chelsea got home from school we headed over to Joel's cousins for the bonfire.  We had a good time over there and both Chelsea and I unknowingly ate TURTLE SOUP!  We weren't told it was that until we had finished our bowl.  Needless to say Chelsea was a little freaked out about it.

And to finish out the weekend we headed to the pumpkin patch first thing Sunday morning...
